The Pacific Northwest has long been one of America’s best regions for craft beer, with hundreds of breweries across Oregon and Washington alone. From hop-heavy IPAs to crisp lagers, rich stouts, and creative seasonal releases, the region’s beer scene has built a reputation that reaches far beyond local taprooms.
The World Beer Awards highlight standout breweries and beers from around the globe, and several Pacific Northwest names have earned medals for their work. Here’s a look at the breweries that took home honors and the beers that helped put them on the map.
Breakside Brewery- OR

With seven locations in the Pacific Northwest and an emphasis on innovative beers of all kinds, Breakside Brewery swept the World Beer Cup. With a whopping six medals awarded to its brews, Breakside continues to establish itself as a top contender in craft beer. Some of its winners include their Mosaic IPA (gold), an elderflower saison (gold), and a pilsner (silver).
Formula Brewing- WA

Founded in Issaquah, Washington, Formula Brewing won silver for their Loyal to the Soil IPA out of nearly 100 entries. A modest brewhouse and beer garden, Formula Brewing is all about rotating their taps for new, seasonal brews. This win marks an impressive start for this brewery, as it’s only five years old.
pFriem Family Brewers- OR

Hood River, Oregon has its fair share of craft breweries, but most pale in comparison to the powerhouse that is pFriem Family Brewers. A mixture of classic German brews and barrel-aged specialties, pFriem took home three distinct medals at the World Beer Cup. Their hazy and cold IPAs took gold in their respective categories, while their pale ale took silver. They also recently opened a new taproom in Portland to celebrate their successes.
Grains of Wrath Brewing- WA

Close to Vancouver in the small town of Camas, Grains of Wrath Brewing cinched three Beer Cup awards in 2024, with only one gold medal in 2025 for their imperial IPA, Punchface Champion. With punk rock flair and a dedication to making great beer for their local community, Grains of Wrath is a local favorite.
Von Ebert Brewing- OR

Portland has three Von Ebert Brewing locations in its metro area, making it easy to try their award-winning brews. Founded in 2018, Von Ebert has risen through the ranks as a brewery known for its tenacity and rotating IPAs. They won gold for their Clubhaus Lager in the coveted light lager category.
Bellevue Brewing- WA

A staple of Seattle’s Spring District, Bellevue Brewing won silver in the pilsner category for their Bellevue 1882 Lager. Opening in 2012, Bellevue Brewing is now on the map for their win, skyrocketing a fan-favorite to an international audience. Still, this craft brewery remains humble, advocating fellowship and good times at their pubhouse.
Deschutes Brewery- OR

It’s difficult to discuss Oregon beers without mentioning Deschutes Brewery. This powerhouse established itself in Bend all the way back in 1988. Ever since, Deschutes has dedicated its brewing knowledge to quality, versatile pours. It took one of each type of medal at the 2025 World Beer Cup: gold for a honey beer called Hachimitsu Mai, silver for a Helles called Kirkland Signature Helles Lager, and bronze for a barrel-aged brew called Sensationator.
No-Li Brewhouse- WA

Family-owned in Spokane, No-Li Brewhouse is a neighborhood favorite. They took home gold in the British-style imperial stout category for their brew entitled Wrecking Ball Imperial Stout. This beer also took home an impressive silver medal at the European Beer Star competition, cementing this brewery as more than a family affair.
Sunriver Brewing Co.- OR

With four locations in Oregon, it’s about time you tried Sunriver Brewing Co. This brewery has multiple major awards under its belt, including the best brewery in Oregon thanks to the Oregon Brewers Association. Their flagship wheat beer, Fuzztail, earned them a gold medal in the American wheat beer category.
Resonate Brewing- WA

Another Bellevue local fave has to be Resonate Brewing, and for good reason. Pairing German-inspired beers with delicious slices of pizza, Resonate was recognized for their brews at the World Beer Cup. Their German Altbier entitled Lithium won gold, an impressive title for a difficult brewing category.
ColdFire Brewing- OR

A small-batch brewery dedicated to refining techniques and putting out quality brews, ColdFire Brewing is located in Eugene, Oregon. Despite their demure size and team, ColdFire won two major medals at the World Beer Cup, including silver for their American Stout and bronze in the session beer category for their understated wonder, Saison Lily.
Bonus Cider Winner: 2 Towns Ciderhouse- OR

While it isn’t exactly beer, 2 Towns Ciderhouse did remarkably well at the World Beer Cup. When the company began back in 2010, they had no idea they would become one of the biggest names in cider not just in the Pacific Northwest, but in the world. Their delicious ciders won a whopping six medals, including three golds, one silver, and two bronze. One stand-out had to be their 2023 Cidre Bouche, a precise, French-style cider.
