The 10 Best Restaurants in Fremont

Post created November 10, 2023

Always eclectic and unique, Fremont is one of Seattle’s funkiest neighborhoods. Famously known for its Fremont Troll statue, Fremont has curated a selection of unusual antique shops, cute boutiques, secondhand bookstores, and a wide array of eateries. The neighborhood is especially popular with the younger crowds, drawing in droves of people to their local breweries and their Sunday market.

One of the best parts about Fremont is its selection of food. From one-of-a-kind burger joints to fine dining curated by awarded chefs, there’s something for every budget and occasion. Below are 10 of some of the best restaurants in Fremont, what they serve, and more.

Uneeda Burger

Fremont’s premier burger joint is located on the corner of Fremont Ave N and N 43rd St, just off of Aurora Ave N. They are open daily from 11 AM to 9 PM including delivery and takeout. They are best known for their grass-fed burgers, as well as their naturally sourced bison, chicken, turkey, and lamb burgers and sandwiches. They have signature burgers, which include a vegetarian option and gluten-free buns upon request. Best of all, they have 7 hand-dipped shakes available made with Snoqualmie gourmet ice cream, perfect for pairing with a burger.

Kamonegi

Although small in size, Kamonegi packs a big punch when it comes to food. Kamonegi specializes in making soba noodles by hand. Guests can order the soba noodles in a soup brother or try the dipping style soba. Both hot and cold soups are available, making their soba comforting during winter and refreshing during summer. They also have seasonal soba dishes, as well as dishes like tempura, foie gras tofu, beef tartare, and more. Be sure to try their desserts like their hojicha panna cotta or osaka souffle style cheesecake.

Lupo

Located directly to the south of Kamonegi is Lupo, a cozy Italian restaurant specializing in Neapolitan-style pizza. Their antique-filled interior evokes a comfy old fashioned vibe while their delicious pizza draws huge crowds on Friday and Saturday nights. They make their pizza dough per day to keep things fresh and have a build-your-own-pizza option so guests can truly make their meal their own. Their menu also includes starters and side dishes like marinated olives, salads, and seasonal dishes.

The Whale Wins

This James Beard Award winning cafe and larder hardly needs an introduction. The Whale Wins is one of the most loved restaurants in all of Fremont and with good reason. The restaurant is cozy and bright with its elevated wood ceiling and wood fired oven while the menu showcases the very best of local gardens, farms, and fisheries. They have 3 different menus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, all of which change weekly to make the most of the different seasons. Breakfast even features donuts from General Porpoise, one of the equally famous and popular sister restaurants of The Whale Wins.

Le Coin

This rustic French joint has a cozy outdoor heated patio, great for a quick meal or a drink. Dinner is served daily starting at 4 PM in both their indoor and outdoor seating areas. Brunch is available Thursday through Sunday from 10 AM to 2 PM. Le Coin sources their ingredients from local sustainable farms and proudly serves the freshest seafood and meat possible. They are best known for their tasting menus, including a 5 course menu, 6 course wine dinner, and a 3 course cocktail pairing menu.

Sea Wolf Bakers

Primarily serving fresh bread and pastries made with locally sourced ingredients, Sea Wolf Bakers is a family-owned and operated business focused on craftsmanship. Founded by 2 brothers native to Washington state almost 10 years ago, Sea Wolf Bakers curate their menu around the seasons and create every item by hand. Guests can order individual items a la carte, order a pizza or sandwich from their lunch menu, and shop for baking ingredients, sundries, alcohol, and more.

Their food menu consists of appetizers and salads, while their entrees are separated into categories based around seafood, meat, and vegetables. Gluten free and vegetarian options are available. The drink menu has a large selection of white, red, sparkling, and rose wines and includes unique cocktails made with Thai basil curry and Thai chili agave.

Local Tide

Open every day except Monday starting at 11 AM, Local Tide is an airy space perfect for a light lunch with coworkers, friends, or even just by yourself. With a menu that primarily focuses on seafood, Local Tide serves up a variety of sandwiches, soups, and salads with influences from Japan and Vietnam. They also have crab rolls available only during weekends, as well as other special dishes like black cod kasuzuke and bread pudding.

Hannyatou

Located in the same building as Kamonegi, Hannyatou is another cozy Japanese restaurant where guests can kick back with small dishes, bar food, and drinks. Their drink menu primarily features sake and shochu, but they also carry beer, wine, and house cocktails. Specials are constantly rotating weekly in their drink menu, meaning guests can try something new every time. Their food consists of small and large dishes, with classics like edamame, house cured salmon roe, and oden as well as house specialties like mapo pork nachos, osaka hot dog, and the tamago ikura sandwich.

Seattle Biscuit Company

Open every day from 8 AM, Seattle Biscuit Company is one of the best places for brunch in Fremont. As the name implies, their menu revolves primarily around biscuits served up with other southern comfort food classics. Seattle Biscuit Company works with local farmers and artisans to put the best possible ingredients into their biscuit sandwiches. They make their own sausage gravy in house, as well as multiple types of jams including spicy variations. Guests can combine their sandwiches with fried chicken, grits, collard greens, or just a simple cup of coffee courtesy of Lighthouse Roasters.
