The 8 Best Happy Hours in Redmond

Post last updated September 4, 2023

I lived in Redmond back in the late 80s and early 90s. Back when State Route 520 didn’t even come out to Redmond and all of Redmond Town Center was just dirt and grass fields as far as the eye could see. Known forever as the “Bicycle Capital” of the Northwest and home to Microsoft and Nintendo, Redmond now boasts numerous restaurants and bars frequented by locals and visitors alike.

So, whether you’re looking for a drink with friends or cheap eats, Redmond has plenty of happy hour options. Here’s our list of the best happy hours in Redmond Washington along with our two must-have items at each one.

The 8 Best Happy Hours in Redmond:

  1. Woodblock
  2. Matador
  3. Pomegranate Bistro
  4. Prime Steakhouse Redmond
  5. Matt’s Rotisserie & Oyster Lounge
  6. Spark Pizza
  7. JJ Mahoney’s Irish Pub
  8. Redmond’s Bar & Grill

1. Woodblock

Address: 16175 Cleveland Street, Suite 109, Redmond, WA 98052

Since opening their doors in 2015, Woodblock has been a mainstay in the Redmond dining scene. A local favorite, Woodblock not only offers a wide variety of food menu items, they even have a weekend brunch that has quickly drawn large crowds amongst brunch enthusiasts. Coupled with a solid happy hour and a 50% off whiskey pours on Tuesdays, Woodblock is the shining star on our Redmond happy hour list.

Happy Hour: Monday through Saturday from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Late Night Bites: Monday through Saturday from 9:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Two Must Have Items: Spicy Chicken Sandwich and Spiced Carrots

2. Matador

Matador in Redmond Washington
The bar at Matador is stocked with tequilas that help craft happy hour cocktails

Address: 7824 NE Leary Way, Redmond, Wa 98052

With nine locations in the Washington and Oregon area, Matador Redmond is another local’s favorite for after work happy hour get-togethers with coworkers and friends. Housed on the ground floor of a two story old town brick building, Matador showcases a traditional and contemporary flare to Mexican dishes. If the weather is nice, definitely head to the back where they have outdoor patio seating!

Happy Hour: Daily from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM and 10:00 PM to last call

Two Must Have Items: Chorizo Quesadilla and Street Tacos

3. Pomegranate Bistro

Address: 18005 NE 68th St, Suite A-150, Redmond, WA 98052

Head a little further east on 202, Redmond Way toward Sammamish and you’ll see off to your left a light gray building with pomegranate trim tucked away in a plaza. Welcome to Pomegranate Bistro! Focusing on American food with a Southern influence, Pomegranate offers upscale dining in a relaxed atmosphere. Offering breakfast, lunch, dinner, weekend brunch, and happy hour, Pomegranate does it all and does it all well! They even have a small display case with all of their fresh daily made cookies and pastries that you can purchase on the way out.

Happy Hour: Tuesday through Friday from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM and Saturday from 4:30 PM – 6:00 PM

Two Must Have Items: Crispy Calamari & Artichokes and Salmon BLT Sliders

4. Prime Steakhouse Redmond

Address: 16330 Cleveland St, Redmond, WA 98052

Prime Steakhouse is our one and only premier steakhouse on our best Redmond happy hour list. Self-described as a contemporary version of a classic American steakhouse, Prime features their 35-day dry aged USDA certified Prime steaks, roasted chicken, lamb shank, and fresh seafood on their main dining menu. Another Redmond restaurant that offers a weekend brunch, their steak and eggs are always a popular choice. The main reason to hit up Prime Steakhouse for happy hour? You get the same quality steak with their “prime steak bites, prime rib sandwich, and prime burger”.

Happy Hour: Daily from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM and 9:00 PM – close

Two Must Have Items: Curry Mussels and Prime Burger (add avocado and bacon)

5. Matt’s Rotisserie & Oyster Lounge

Address: 7325 166th Ave NE, Suite F-210, Redmond, WA 98052

Matt’s is located on the south side of Redmond Town Center on the second floor. Ample parking at the town center makes accessing this restaurant a breeze. You’ll notice as soon as you ride the escalator up to the second floor, they have outdoor patio seating, which is perfect for those summer afternoons and evenings. Upscale, yet casual (which I suppose is a defining characteristic of Seattle and the Eastside) their dining menu consists of a variety of soups and salads, meats, seafood, and a surprising menu item that is unexpectedly delicious – jambalaya. Head straight to the oyster bar for a happy hour menu that won’t disappoint!

Happy Hour: Monday through Saturday from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM and Sunday from 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Two Must Have Items: Matts’ Killer Sliders and Prawn & Avocado Pizza

6. Spark Pizza

After opening their first restaurant, three years later the owners of Woodblock gave us another Redmond gem, Spark Pizza. Unpretentious, creative, and a great place to hang, Spark Pizza thrives in a location that has housed several restaurants over the years that have all closed their doors. Indoor dining is an option, but whenever possible, getting a seat on the outdoor patio is always a bonus. Even though you’re there for happy hour, take a moment to glance over their main pizza menu. They have a great selection of traditional and contemporary pizzas in various styles. Most of all, you’ll enjoy the pizza names!

Happy Hour: Tuesday through Sunday from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Two Must Have Items: Feelin’ Peppi and The Happy-Gal

7. JJ Mahoney’s Irish Pub

Address: 8932 161st Ave NE, Redmond, WA 98052

A happy hour list isn’t complete without having at least one Irish pub, right? Well here’s ours: JJ Mahoney’s. Located at the Bella Bottega Shopping Center Plaza, JJ’s is your neighborhood Irish Pub where locals head to catch the Seahawks, Mariners, Sounders, or Kraken in action. They’ll also have European and World soccer on if you’re there earlier in the day as they open at 11:00 AM on weekdays, and 9:30 AM on weekends. They have patio seating but it’s a pretty small space and just overlooks the parking lot. My suggestion is to walk in, head to your right, and see if you’re lucky enough to grab the fireplace seating.

Happy Hour: Monday through Saturday from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM – close | All Day Sunday

Two Must Have Items: Frickles and Potato Skins

A classic dive bar located right in the heart of Downtown Redmond, Redmond’s Bar & Grill brings you Taco Tuesdays and Beat the Geek Trivia Nights! Bathed in dark wood and black, this is your quintessential neighborhood dive bar with regulars ordering their usual and everyone on a first-name basis. If you’re looking for a suburban dive bar with fun events, a great happy hour, and friendly service, try Redmond’s Bar & Grill.
