Free bike rentals on-site We booked our stay in an interesting lodging destination. The Friday Harbor Inn markets itself both as its prior “motel” name (Friday Harbor Inn) and also as a much trendier new destination “Elements”. The owners have done an excellent job revitalizing a standard motel property into something interesting and appealing. All of the rooms have been renovated with classic style including custom paint; very comfortabler platform beds; designer lighting; and wireless internet everywhere. The motel features a nice pool and jacuzzi and is within easy walking distance of the ferry’s dropoff.
Elements / Friday Harbor Inn Reservations Each room includes coffee service and a host of herbal shampoos and soaps. We really liked this hotel. Each of the room types have names (Sunspaces, Earthspaces, etc.) and there is a spa right on site and a local restaurant providing room service. The flooring is a laminate wood-look and the beds were super-comfy. We really liked the Elements – and never really figured out if it was a hotel or motel. One note: they have a 10 day cancellation policy and they adhere to it strictly. The Victoria Clipper passenger boats (above) broke down, and they held guests to the room bookings — despite the loss of transportation. There is also a 10% advance deposit for the room upon booking.
Elements / Friday Harbor Inn Reservations Parking is plentiful and we parked right outside our room – something we haven’t done in a while at the corporate chains. All in all – Elements was a good choice at a reasonable price around $200 – $250 per night including tax, depending on the room type. Front desk service was excellent including great recommendations on local activities and a complimentary corkscrew loan. Make sure to check out restaurant recommendations before a walk – one restaurant referred from the front desk was closed for renovation.
Elements / Friday Harbor Inn Reservations Another warning on Elements / Friday Harbor Inn – when they say checkout – they mean checkout. An army of room cleaners was ready at 9am, and when we returned to our 11am checkout room around 10:30 — the room had been cleaned and our belongings (food) removed. We’d suggest Elements / Friday Harbor Inn apply a little more organized policy to room cleaning on un-checked out guests. The motel has over 75 rooms and its own spa on-site.
